ASM - South Bay
Chapter's
May 2008 Meeting
AMS 2750D PYROMETRY TRAINING & SUPPORT RESOURCES OF
PRI
PRI has developed two-day training classes related to pyrometry testing of heating equipment in accordance with AMS 2750D. John Ewing will present an overview of those classes and also comment on how the Nadcap Heat Treat Task Group has established a subcommittee for evaluation of "difficult" areas in AMS 2750D and how those questionable areas are addressed in a publication entitled Pyrometry Reference Guide. In addition he will touch on some of the major causes of audit findings related to pyrometry and how to avoid them.
John Ewing is a metallurgical engineer and he worked for 40 years with Raytheon Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. The company originated in 1932 as Beech Aircraft Company, was purchased in the early 1980's by Raytheon, and is now Hawker Beechcraft Corporation. During his time with that company, John functioned in various positions related to metallurgical engineering which primarily included process control, failure analysis, and materials research. Since retiring, he has worked for PRI/Nadcap as a part-time contract consultant which has included staff engineer work, performing heat treat audits, and presenting training courses. John has been a continuous ASM member since 1973.
If you have any involvement with NADCAP or ASM 2750 this meeting should be of great interest to you.
