ASM - South Bay Chapter's
February 2007 Meeting

HOW TO GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH FROM YOUR HEAT TREATER

Tens of thousands of dollars are lost, and shoddy quality heat treated parts are produced though errors in Purchase orders. Purchase Orders can run the gauntlet from the simple “harden my parts” to 20 page documents with all sorts of extraneous information. The major problem is most people writing purchase orders have no idea what the heat treater needs to do the job, and supplying too much information may be as costly as not supplying enough.

So what information does the heat treater need?

Ed Kopaskie, a metallurgical engineer, who has over 40 years of experience in commercial heat treating, serving as the former President of Cal Doran and the current President and owner of Aremac Heat Treating, has has the intimate knowledge of what is necessary to attain the quality requirements of thermal processing He has been continually active in all areas of heat treating, serving as President of the Metal Heat Treaters Association and sitting on the Aerospace Metals Engineering Committee of SAE.

If you contract your heat treating services, or you work in the heat treat industry, you won't want to miss this meeting, .

Be sure to make you reservations early by emailing your request to Marc Kashinsky or calling (805)271-2242.
