Free meeting to start off the year!
Prof. Farghalli Mohamed,
Materials Science and Engineering, UC Irvine
“Research on Mechanical Behavior of Materials at UCI”
Thursday, September 21st, 2006
University of California at Irvine
California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2)
This seminar discuses several issues that are related to the deformation behavior of materials that were addressed by professor Mohamed and his research group. Primary among these issues are those related to the origin of the low stress behavior during superplastic flow, reason for the formation of cavitation stringers in superplastic alloys, dislocation activity during superplastic flow, the origin of the threshold stress during the creep of composites, the presence of a minimum grain size as a result of milling.
Parking for the meeting will be FREE at the engineering parking structure on Anteater Way. Just tell the attendant that you are here for the UCI Matsci / ASM –OC meeting.

Directions to Calit2 |

From the engineering parking structure you exit the west side of the building and follow the walking trail down to the North end of the NFCRC (white building with a crane outside). There is a wooden stairway that leads up between the NFCRC and the Engineering counceling trailors. Keep walking straight past the Engineering Gateway on your left and IERF on your right until you see a building with a 4 story glass front on it to your left. That is Calit2.
