ASM International Orange Coast Chapter |
Orange Coast Chapter is proud to have a very diverse technical base of materials and industries. Through the years Orange County has been involved in the space race in the 60's with Rockwell, Boeing, McDonnell-Douglas, and Lockheed. It has been instrumental in the advance of medical devices, which has now become an industrial hub for the Biomedical industry, and playing a significant role in the evolvement of the electronics industry.
If industry isn't enough, our West is framed by the
Pacific Ocean having Huntington Beach which is touted as the best surf spot for
is consistency of good waves and "The Wedge" for the adrenalin rush of its high
thrills and danger. To the East is the Coastal Range Mountains which provide
hiking and mountain bike trails from there to the coast. And, in between is the
birthplace of Mickey Mouse at Disneyland and the cool shade of palm trees.
The Oldest Industrial Complex is the Smelting and Candle making pits of the
Native Indians with the Spanish Missionaries at San Juan Capistrano Mission. ASM
International has recognized its position in materials history by dedicating a
plaque in 1975. The mission was in production of forged iron works for weapons
and construction in 1776 as well as candle making and wine making. Besides
having a rich history with past US President visits it is the most painted adobe
structure with its mesmerizing arches splashed by brilliant color of the
garden's wild flowers.
We are looking forward to meeting some new faces at the technical meetings.
