Follow at 8:00pm with our feature presentation, Paul Schmidt, Edwards Life Sciences talking on “Biomaterials in Cardiovascular Applications” in meeting room at La Quinta Inn.

This talk will include a discussion of some of the diverse man-made and animal-derived materials used in cardiovascular applications. Some of the devices covered will be replacement heart valves, annuloplasty rings, and stents. The materials discussed will range from textiles, elastomers, metals, ceramics, and will also include chemically preserved bovine and porcine tissue.

Bio: Paul Schmidt is a materials engineer working in the Research department of the Heart Valve Therapy group at Edwards Lifesciences, LLC. Paul has a BS in Metallurgical Engineering, an MS in Mechanical Engineering (Materials), and over 25 years experience in medical device industries.
