Meet at 6:30pm in the front lobby of La Quinta Inn. We will then walk to Tia Juana’s long bar and grill next door for food and refreshments.

Follow at 7:30pm with our feature presentation, Robert W. Hayes, Metals Technology Inc. talking on “Testing of Aerospace Materials” in meeting room at La Quinta Inn.

This seminar will focus on some aspects of mechanical testing and microstructural characterization of Ni base and Ti base alloys used in aircraft engine applications. Specificaly, the talk will focus on uniaxial tension testing and tension creep testing as performed for customers who forge components for jet engine applications. A brief description of low cycle fatigue (LCF) and fatigue crack growth (FCG) will also be given. Microstructures of Inconel alloy 718 and Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo will be presented and discussed.
