ASM Education Courses
Fall 2010

 

The Los Angeles Chapter will be offering two ASM educational courses this fall.

The fall courses will start Wednesday evening, September, 15, 2010.

The courses are:

        Metallurgy for the Non-Metallurgist …..Dr. John R. Ogren, Northrop Grumman (retired)

               Introduction to Heat Treating……………..Richard Berryman, Northrop Grumman

        

The first sessions for both courses will be at the Sempra Utility Company’s Energy Resource Center at 9240 Firestone Blvd in Downey. Subsequent classes will be held at locations chosen by the students.

The Metallurgy for the Non-Metallurgist course covers 15 lessons. Frequently, the students ask for 2 lessons per session in order to complete their course in 8 weeks….before the holidays.

The Introduction to Heat Treating course covers 10 weeks and students typically ask for 2 lessons per session

The courses are all certified by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and are the internationally recognized “gold standard” for professionals seeking quality continuing education. Many states now require Professional Development Hours to maintain licensure. ASM International has been reviewed and has been approved as an authorized provider.

The courses come from ASM headquarters and include i)  membership in ASM International   ii) a choice of either a big notebook containing all 15 lessons or a CD containing the same information, and iii) evening coffee.

The cost is $1898 in Cleveland. Travel and per diem expenses must be added. The cost for each course in Los Angeles is $1575. Good deal.  Bring a company invoice or a check.

In addition, Dan Dennies will be teaching two ASM failure analysis courses.  How to Run a Failure Analysis Investigation AND Principles of Failure Analysis will beoffered September 27-October 1 at Foothill Ranch, CA. One can take either course, or both.
