John Ogren and Russ Sherman will join us on the discussion. Our
panel discussion is open to others who would like to share their
experiences and thoughts on materials, applications and technologies
that are, or were critical to basic industries and key technological
advances.
Background:
Charles Daugherty is a retired Boeing Materials Engineering Scientist,
and was involved in materials designs for Aerospace (C5A, Apollo, RPV,
SSME, Peacekeeper, and International Space Station); Electronics; Oil &
Gas, Renewable & Nuclear Energy, Steel & Concrete Construction, and
other industries over the past 40 plus years. Chuck is a life member of
ASMI and has been chairman of San Fernando Valley, South Bay & Colorado
School of Mines chapters. Currently he is Program Manager of Planetary
Coral Reef Foundation (PCRF) & Director of five corporations.
Robert H. (Bob) Gassner is President of a materials and process
engineering consulting firm (CNS Inc.) Bob has over 60 years experience
in aerospace, commencing as a WW II Liberator pilot in the 8th Air
Force, followed by 36 years at Douglas Aircraft and 20 years in
consulting and testing. He taught "Failure Analysis" courses at USC and
UCLA, published several articles and sponsored many AMS specifications.
He is a Fellow of ASM International and an Honorary Member of the
Aerospace Materials Division of SAE.
Daniel P. Dennies is an Associate Technical Fellow for the Boeing
Company with 27 years experience in metallurgy and failure analyses. He
authored the book “How to Organize and Run a Failure Investigation,”
(Sept 2005). He has worked on projects such as the Space Shuttle Main
Engine, the National Launch System, the National Aerospace Plane,
expendable launch systems like Delta and Titan and, the International
Space Station. Dan is an ASM International Fellow and Trustee. He was a
founding Materials Mentor for the Eisenman Materials Camp in 2000, and
is very active in Materials Camps as well as the Teachers Materials Camp
in LA.
