- The American Chemical Society ACSWeb
- This WWW server provides information on the American Chemical Society products and
services. The ACS is the world's largest scientific society and has a membership of nearly
150,000 chemists and chemical engineers. The Society is recognized as a world leader in

- American Iron and Steel Institute
- Founded in 1908, American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) member companies represent
Canadian, United States and Mexican steelmakers that produce more than 66 percent of the
steel made in North America. The mission of AISI is to promote steel as the material of
choice in product applications and to enhance the competitiveness of its member companies.
- American National Standards Institute
- Funded in 1918, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), is a private,
not-for-profit membership organization that coordinates the U.S. voluntary consensus
standards system and approves American National Standards. ANSI consists of approximately
1,300 national and international companies, 30 government agencies, 20 institutional
members, and 250 professional, technical, trade, labor and consumer organizations. ANSI
acts to insure that a single consistent set of consensus based American National Standards
are developed by ANSI-accredited standards developers. Integral to the development and
approval process is the requirement that all interests concerned have the opportunity to
participate in the development process.

- The purpose of this society is to promote further recognition of Engineering Technology
as a major engineering education program. The Student Chapter of the A.S.E.T. will work to

- FIZ-Karlsruhe

- The Historical Metallurgy Society
- The Historical Metallurgy Society was established in 1962, to record and encourage the

(ISO)
- The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of

- The International Union of Materials Research Societies was established in 1991 as an
international association of technical groups or societies which have an interest in

multidisciplinary nature of materials research internationally; to promote information
exchange among national or regional societies with interests in interdisciplinary
materials research, and to work to coordinate their activities; to promote communication

materials research societies.

- National Center for Excellence in
Metalworking Technology (NCEMT)
- NCEMT is a national resource for the improvement of the technical
and competitive posture of the United States of America's civil-military industrial base
through effective transition of leading edge technologies for the application of
conventional and advanced materials in Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial
engineering systems. NCEMT activities are focused on casting technology, forming
technology, joining technology, powder metallurgy & ceramic materials, and surface
treatment. The NCEMT, located in Johnstown, PA, is operated by Concurrent Technologies
Corporation (CTC) for the U.S. Navy's Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T)
Program.
- Royal Society of Chemistry
- As a learned society, the Society provides a forum of chemists and chemistry for the
exchange of ideas and results and to provide a network to encourage collaboration on new
ventures. The Society recognises achievement through awards and endowed lectureships and
assists young chemists by bursaries for various purposes.

- Steel Manufacturers Association Steelnet
- The company members of the Steel Manufacturers Association ("SMA") accounted
for almost 40% of US steel shipments in 1994. Electric furnaces consumed more than 41
million tons of scrap metal in 1994, recycling the scrap from nine million junked cars
each year and additional massive tonnages of tin cans, old appliances and other discards.
Our member company steel producers are the largest recyclers in the country. The SMA
supports fair, open trade, a clean environment and progressive workforce policies. SMA
companies provide jobs for 63,000 well-trained, well-compensated, highly productive and
internationally competitive industrial workers.
